Rig Veda 7.83.1
युवां नरा पश्यमानास आप्यं पराचा गव्यन्तः पर्थुपर्शवो ययुः | दासा च वर्त्रा हतमार्याणि च सुदासमिन्द्रावरुणावसावतम
yuvāṃ narā paśyamānāsa āpyaṃ prācā ghavyantaḥ pṛthuparśavo yayuḥ | dāsā ca vṛtrā hatamāryāṇi ca sudāsamindrāvaruṇāvasāvatam
Rig Veda 7.83.2
यत्रा नरः समयन्ते कर्तध्वजो यस्मिन्नाजा भवति किंचन परियम | यत्रा भयन्ते भुवना सवर्द्र्शस्तत्रा न इन्द्रावरुणाधि वोचतम
yatrā naraḥ samayante kṛtadhvajo yasminnājā bhavati kiṃcana priyam | yatrā bhayante bhuvanā svardṛśastatrā na indrāvaruṇādhi vocatam
Where heroes come together with their banners raised, in the encounter where is naught for us to love, Where all things that behold the light are terrified, there did ye comfort us, O Indra-Varuṇa.
Rig Veda 7.83.3
सं भूम्या अन्ता धवसिरा अद्र्क्षतेन्द्रावरुणा दिवि घोषारुहत | अस्थुर्जनानामुप मामरातयो.अर्वागवसा हवनश्रुता गतम
saṃ bhūmyā antā dhvasirā adṛkṣatendrāvaruṇā divi ghoṣaāruhat | asthurjanānāmupa māmarātayo.arvāghavasā havanaśrutā ghatam
The boundaries of earth were seen all dark with dust: O Indra-Varuṇa, the shout went up to heaven. The enmities of the people compassed me about. Ye heard my calling and ye came to me with help.
Rig Veda 7.83.4
इन्द्रावरुणा वधनाभिरप्रति भेदं वन्वन्ता पर सुदासमावतम | बरह्माण्येषां शर्णुतं हवीमनि सत्या तर्त्सूनामभवत पुरोहितिः
indrāvaruṇā vadhanābhiraprati bhedaṃ vanvantā pra sudāsamāvatam | brahmāṇyeṣāṃ śṛṇutaṃ havīmani satyā tṛtsūnāmabhavat purohitiḥ
With your resistless weapons, Indra-Varuṇa, ye conquered Bheda and ye gave Sudās your aid. Ye heard the prayers of these amid the cries of war: effectual was the service of the Trtsus' priest.
Rig Veda 7.83.5
इन्द्रावरुणावभ्या तपन्ति माघान्यर्यो वनुषामरातयः | युवं हि वस्व उभयस्य राजथो.अध समा नो.अवतं पार्ये दिवि
indrāvaruṇāvabhyā tapanti māghānyaryo vanuṣāmarātayaḥ | yuvaṃ hi vasva ubhayasya rājatho.adha smā no.avataṃ pārye divi
O Indra-Varuṇa, the wickedness of foes and mine assailants' hatred sorely trouble me. Ye Twain are Lords of riches both of earth and heaven: so grant to us your aid on the decisive day.
Rig Veda 7.83.6
युवां हवन्त उभयास आजिष्विन्द्रं च वस्वो वरुणं चसातये | यत्र राजभिर्दशभिर्निबाधितं पर सुदासमावतं तर्त्सुभिः सह
yuvāṃ havanta ubhayāsa ājiṣvindraṃ ca vasvo varuṇaṃ casātaye | yatra rājabhirdaśabhirnibādhitaṃ pra sudāsamāvataṃ tṛtsubhiḥ saha
The men of both the hosts invoked you in the fight, Indra and Varuṇa, that they might win the wealth, What time ye helped Sudās, with all the Trtsu folk, when the Ten Kings had pressed him down in their attack.
Rig Veda 7.83.7
दश राजानः समिता अयज्यवः सुदासमिन्द्रावरुणा न युयुधुः | सत्या नर्णामद्मसदामुपस्तुतिर्देवा एषामभवन देवहूतिषु
daśa rājānaḥ samitā ayajyavaḥ sudāsamindrāvaruṇā na yuyudhuḥ | satyā nṛṇāmadmasadāmupastutirdevā eṣāmabhavan devahūtiṣu
Ten Kings who worshipped not, O Indra-Varuṇa, confederate, in war prevailed not o’er Sudās. True was the boast of heroes sitting at the feast: so at their invocations Gods were on their side.
Rig Veda 7.83.8
दाशराज्ञे परियत्ताय विश्वतः सुदास इन्द्रावरुणावशिक्षतम | शवित्यञ्चो यत्र नमसा कपर्दिनो धिया धीवन्तो असपन्त तर्त्सवः
dāśarājñe pariyattāya viśvataḥ sudāsa indrāvaruṇāvaśikṣatam | śvityañco yatra namasā kapardino dhiyā dhīvanto asapanta tṛtsavaḥ
O Indra-Varuṇa, ye gave Sudās your aid when the Ten Kings in battle compassed him about, There where the white-robed Trtsus with their braided hair, skilled in song worshipped you with homage and with hymn.
Rig Veda 7.83.9
वर्त्राण्यन्यः समिथेषु जिघ्नते वरतान्यन्यो अभि रक्षते सदा | हवामहे वां वर्षणा सुव्र्क्तिभिरस्मे इन्द्रावरुणा शर्म यछतम
vṛtrāṇyanyaḥ samitheṣu jighnate vratānyanyo abhi rakṣate sadā | havāmahe vāṃ vṛṣaṇā suvṛktibhirasme indrāvaruṇaā śarma yachatam
One of you Twain destroys the Vṛtras in the fight, the Other evermore maintains his holy Laws. We call on you, ye Mighty, with our hymns of praise. Vouchsafe us your protection, Indra-Varuṇa.
Rig Veda 7.83.10
अस्मे इन्द्रो वरुणो मित्रो ...
asme indro varuṇo mitro ...
May Indra, Varuṇa, Mitra, and Aryaman vouchsafe us glory and great shelter spreading far. We think of the beneficent light of Aditi, and Savitar's song of praise, the God who strengthens Law.
